Shannon began working for Paul Gray Plumbing Services (PGPS) in 2014 as a certified plumber, after winning several awards during her apprenticeship with the Queensland Government.
Not only has Shannon overcome the many obstacles that come with working in a predominantly male dominated field, but Shannon is also profoundly deaf. She has never let her deafness get in the way of achieving her career goals and dreams. Shannon wears hearing aids, lip reads exceedingly well and is also fluent in Auslan (Australian Sign Language), and does not require an interpreter on the job. Shannon has a very polite, approachable and friendly manner, and always has a smile on her face! She is a hard worker with a positive attitude, and is exceptionally organized and punctual, making her one of our most valued employees.
In April 2018, Shannon was selected to take part in the Queen’s Baton Relay ahead of the Gold Coast’s 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Fun facts about Shannon:
Shannon loved dirt-bike riding, hiking and her lizard, Grizzy and was an avid gym-junkie and liked spending her down-time sunbaking on quiet beaches: preferably in Bali or Fiji! But recently, her passion has turned to her partner and two beautiful children. Her favourite treat is a brownie from Barefoot Barista, and she is also known to fancy a good banana smoothie.

Nominated by the Gold Coast Institute of TAFE, Ashmore, for Evolution Training Award for Construction Apprentice of the Year at Constructions Skills Queensland Awards: Shannon was one of only three plumbers nominated for this award.
